​​​Work Hard, Get A Lyft:  Using the Lyft App​​

The Work Hard, Get a Lyft program is a partnership between the City of Coppell, Denton County Transportation Authority and Lyft that provides first- and last-mile transportation to employees who work at businesses within the city limits of Coppell. 

Employees who work at a participating businesses must have the following to participate in the program:

• A credit card
  
• A smart phone
  
• The Lyft app
  
• The unique promo code provided by the City of Coppell to their employer
  

Below is a guide on how to download and install the Lyft app on your smart phone, sign up for a Lyft account, add a promo code in the app, and request a ride:​​

How to download and install the Lyft App

1. Use your phone to go to your app store (the iOS App Store for iPhone and Google Play Store for Androids)
   
2. Search for "Lyft" and install the free Lyft app​
   

 Once you have the Lyft app installed, you will need to sign up for a Lyft account.

Sign up for a Lyft account

Before you begin, be sure you have the following:

• Your phone number
  
• Your email address
  
• A photo of yourself
  

Get started

1. Type in your device's phone number
   
2. To verify your identity, Lyft will send a verification code via text to your phone number.
   
3. The text message should arrive immediately. If you don't see it after a bit, tap 'Resend code.'
   
4. Type in your name, email address, and take a selfie so your driver knows who to pick up
   

 Once your Lyft account is set up, you will need to enter the unique promo code provided by your employer before each ride request.

How to add promo codes

1. Open the Lyft app
   
2. Tap the menu icon in the top left corner
   
3. Tap 'Promos' in the menu that appears
   
4. Tap 'Enter promo code' to add your code (remember to check spelling)
   
5. Tap 'Apply' to finish
   

After you follow these steps, you'll see if the code is valid for your account. You'll also see the promotion amount, expiration date, and other terms. Now you're ready to request a ride!

How to request a Lyft ride

1. Open the Lyft app
   
2. Tap 'search destination' and enter your destination. You can enter an address or search for a location.
   
3. Select your ride mode. (Economy Standard)
   
4. Tap 'Select' to request a ride. Your driver will be there shortly.​
