Centers for Disease Control & PreventionState of Texas Button-2.pngDallas County COVID-19 PageDallas County NewsHow Can I Help?

Based on Governor Abbott's Executive Orders, the President's Opening up American Guidelines, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and local recommendations, the City continues to encourage residents to conduct City business remotely.  Additionally, please be aware that limited public access, special hours or temporary processes and requirements may be in place to protect customers and employees. Hours of operation and other impacts are subject to change as circumstances warrant.

Citywide closures and impacts

The City of Coppell's Declaration of a State of Emergency and Orders align with Governor Abbott's Executive Orders and those of Dallas County. Unless otherwise specified, the amended Orders will remain in place until Governor Abbott or Dallas County repeal or otherwise conclude the State of Disaster.

In accordance with Dallas County and the Governor's Office, residents should minimize social gatherings and in-person contact with people who do not live in the same household. Residents over the age of 65 are strongly encouraged to stay at home as much as possible and maintain distance from any member of the household who has been out of the residence in the previous 14 days. If a resident over the age of 65 must leave their home, they should practice social distancing and good hygiene.

On July 2, Governor Greg Abbott issued Executive Order No. GA-29 requiring all Texans to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases, with few exceptions. The Governor also issued a proclamation giving mayors and county judges the ability to impose restrictions on some outdoor gatherings of over 10 people, and making it mandatory that, with certain exceptions, people cannot be in groups larger than ten and must maintain six feet of social distancing from others.

Per Executive Order GA 28, which was issued on June 26, 2020, business establishments in Coppell may operate at no more than 50% of total listed occupancy of the establishment, unless the business falls into one of the excluded categories. This 50% occupancy limit does not apply to outdoor areas, events or establishments. The following outdoor areas/venues are not excluded and must therefore abide by the 50% occupancy limit:  large sporting events, swimming pools, water parks, museums and libraries, zoos and aquariums and rodeos/equestrian events.

The 50% occupancy limit does not apply to establishments that operate with at least six feet of social distancing between workstations, such as hair and nail salons, barber shops, massage parlors, and personal beauty service providers.

Dine-in restaurants may operate at up to 50% of the total listed occupancy. Bars are to close unless they offer drive-thru, pickup or delivery options as authorized by the TABC.

In every instance the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines are to be followed. Hand washing and social distancing are still important measures to slow the spread of the virus and should be observed.
