Projects under Construction
The design contract for Freeport Parkway improvements was completed by J. Volk Consulting for a total contract amount of $726,000. The project includes full pavement replacement, bridge reconstruction, utility replacement / rehabilitation, landscaping enhancement, geometry improvements, trail construction, lighting, and a new traffic signal. The construction project was awarded to Texas Sterling Construction Co. for a total contract amount of $16,519,808.64. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2020.

The contractor continues to work on the Freeport Parkway road construction of the southbound lanes between Bethel Road and Airline Road, bridge construction on the southbound lanes at Grapevine Creek, traffic signal work at the intersection of Southwestern Boulevard and Freeport Parkway, sidewalk and side path trail installations, and median work. There will be continuing lane closures on Freeport for the remaining work.

A design contract for the reconstruction of Airline Drive was awarded to Kimley-Horn in summer 2017. The project consists of concrete replacement, utility upgrades and sidewalk improvements. The project will also improve drainage. The project was awarded to McMahon Contracting, LP. for a total contract amount of $4,454,084.65. Construction began Fall 2020 and is anticipated to be complete Winter 2021.
Latest Update:
The Pre-construction meeting was held on 09-17-20. The project started on 10-05-20. Traffic control has been set up and water line installations are in progress. Traffic has been shifted to westbound only until project completion.

TAX 2015B PLANTATION DRIVE AND MOSSY OAKS STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
The design for these improvements is currently underway with Pape-Dawson Engineers. The project will impact the entire length of Plantation Drive and Mossy Oaks Street. The project includes complete pavement reconstruction and utility upgrades. Construction is anticipated to begin the Summer of 2021.

ST 16-01A S BELT LINE ROAD
A design contract for the reconstruction of S. Belt Line Road from Denton Tap Road to I-635 was awarded to Halff Associates, Inc. in the Spring of 2019. The project consists of paving, drainage, and utility improvements. Construction to begin in the Summer of 2021.

TAX 2018A SPANISH MOSS DRIVE AND JEB COURT
A design contract for the reconstruction of Spanish Moss Drive and Jeb Court was awarded to Huitt Zollars, Inc. in the Summer of 2019. The project consists of complete pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, and sidewalk improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023.

A design contract for the reconstruction of Southwestern Blvd was awarded to Kirkman Engineering in the Fall of 2020 in the amount of $202,700. The project consists of pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, sidewalk improvements, and drainage improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023.
