Projects under Construction​


TAX 2014A PARKWAY BOULEVARD

The Tax 2014A Parkway Boulevard reconstruction contract was awarded to Tiseo Paving Company for a total contract amount of $7,426,912.50 in March of 2019. Construction activities consists of removal and replacement of pavement, water, sewer and storm lines from Heartz Road to Lodge Road and panel replacements from Denton Tap Road to MacArthur Road. Project also includes a 8 foot sidepath/trail on the north side of the road from Heartz Road to Moore Road and a 6 foot sidewalk along the south side of the roadway. Construction is anticipated to be completed in Spring of 2020.

Latest Update: 

The contractor completed the roadway lane construction. The last phase of construction work is in progress which includes the work on the Parkway median landscaping work between Denton Tap Road and Lodge Road, construction on the stamped concrete work at the intersection of Parkway Boulevard and Lodge Road, and construction of the sidewalk on the south side of Parkway from Lodge Road to Moore Road. There will be continuing lane closures on Parkway Boulevard from Denton Tap Road to Moore Road for the remaining work.

ST 15-01A  FREEPORT PARKWAY, (BETHEL RD TO I-635)

The design contract for Freeport Parkway improvements was completed by J. Volk Consulting for a total contract amount of $726,000.  The project includes full pavement replacement, bridge reconstruction, utility replacement / rehabilitation, landscaping enhancement, geometry improvements, trail construction, lighting, and a new traffic signal. The construction project was awarded to Texas Sterling Construction Co. for a total contract amount of $16,519,808.64. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2020.

Latest Update: 

The contractor continues to work on the Freeport Parkway road construction of the southbound lanes between Bethel Road and Airline Road, bridge construction on the s​outhbound lanes at Grapevine Creek, traffic signal work at the intersection of Southwestern Boulevard and Freeport Parkway, sidewalk and side path trail installations, and median work. There will be continuing lane closures on Freeport for the remaining work. ​

TAX 2016B AIRLINE DRIVE 

​A design contract for the reconstruction of Airline Drive was awarded to Kimley-Horn in summer 2017. The project consists of concrete replacement, utility upgrades and sidewalk improvements. The project will also improve drainage. The project was awarded to McMahon Contracting, LP. for a total contract amount of $4,454,084.65.​ Construction began Fall 2020 and is anticipated to be complete Winter 2021​.

PROJECTS IN DESIGN


TAX 2015B  PLANTATION DRIVE AND MOSSY OAKS STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT 

The design for these improvements is currently underway with Pape-Dawson Engineers. The project will impact the entire length of Plantation Drive and Mossy Oaks Street. The project includes complete pavement reconstruction and utility upgrades. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2021​.

ST 16-01A S BELT LINE ROAD

A design contract for the reconstruction of S. Belt Line Road from Denton Tap Road to I-635 was awarded to Halff Associates, Inc. in the Spring of 2019. The project consists of paving, drainage, and utility improvements. Construction to begin in the Spring of 2021.​​​

TAX 2017C CAMBRIA DRIVE AND WISE WAY
A design contract for the reconstruction of Cambria Drive and the Wise Way connection was awarded to Criado & Associates, Inc. in the Spring of 2019. The project consists of complete pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, and storm drain improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2021.​

TAX 2018A SPANISH MOSS DRIVE AND JEB COURT
A design contract for the reconstruction of Spanish Moss Drive and Jeb Court was awarded to Huitt Zollars, Inc. in the Summer of 2019. The project consists of complete pavement reconstruction, utility upgrades, and sidewalk improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023.

1. DAMAGED SIDEWALK IS DEMOLISHED & REMOVED

2. GROUND IS COMPActED & PREPARED

3. WOOD FORMS ARE SET AND REBAR IS PLACED

4. CONCRETE IS POURED & CURES/DRIES TYPICALLY 24-72 HOURS

5. CONTROL JOINTS ARE SAWCUT AND SEALANT IS APPLIED TO EXPANSION JOINTS, IF ANY​
