The Coppell Municipal Court is located at 130 Town Center Blvd in the Coppell Justice Center. The court is one block southeast of the intersection of Denton Tap Rd. and Parkway Blvd. For easy access to the Justice Center, please park in the lot located between the Fire Station and the Justice Center, North of the Justice Center. ​​

MUNICIPAL COURT FAQ

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR TAKING CARE OF MY CITATION?

Options for handling a citation are listed on the back of the citation. If you have any questions concerning the listed options, contact the court for more detailed information.

WHAT IS THE FINE AMOUNT FOR MY PARTICULAR CITATION?

Information on your fine and court cost can be obtained by calling the Municipal Court at 972-304-3650, during regular office hours. Have your citation and driver's license number in-hand when calling.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DOES THE COURT ACCEPT?

The court currently accepts payment in the form of cash, check (with proper I.D.), money order, cashier's check or credit card. Temporary checks are not accepted.

HOW DO I SET A COURT DATE?

Court dates are not set over the phone. You must appear in person before or on your scheduled due date to enter a plea, dispose of your case, or request a court setting. Written requests will only be accepted if they are received in the Municipal Court Office on or before your scheduled due date. If you have missed your due date, contact the court for information on your warrant status.

HOW MAY I CHANGE MY COURT DATE?

Changes in court dates (continuances) may not be requested by phone. Requests for continuances must be made in person or in writing on or before the scheduled court date.

WHAT IF THE COURT IS CLOSED ON MY COURT DATE?

For information of facility closings or delayed openings, please refer to the City of Coppell's main website www.coppelltx.gov, check the Municipal Court Department section of the website, or call the court 972-304-3650. If you are scheduled for a court date prior to the court's opening, the Judge will be available for you until  the last time slot of the day. JURY SERVICE

Jury service is an obligation of citizenship, which is essential to the judicial process. It is an opportunity for you to make a meaningful contribution to ensure that justice is provided in our community.

If you have received a notice regarding jury duty from the Coppell Municipal Court, your presence is required at this time. Please report promptly at the time and place noted on your summons. The time and appearance date on which you are expected to appear are located in the body of the notice. Jury duty starts promptly at the time listed on the notice, and because caseloads vary, plan to stay the entire day. 

Parking information: Parking is available in the Visitor Parking Lot on the North side of the Coppell Justice Center.  The parking lot on the South side of the Justice Center is reserved for police vehicles and employees only. Parking in unauthorized lots may result in your vehicle being towed.

Witnesses and jurors, who fail to appear after having been subpoenaed, may be ordered to show cause why further action should not be taken against them. If you require additional information, please contact the Coppell Municipal Court No. 1 from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday at 972-304-3650.

You do not need to appear in person if you are disqualified or exempt from jury service. To claim these exemptions, complete the affidavit that you have received, and be certain to have the affidavit notarized, and returned to the court immediately. It is our policy to make jury service accessible to all qualified persons without regard to disability. If your disability requires accommodation, please call upon receipt of your jury summons, so we can discuss your needs.

Municipal Court Authority and Jurisdiction

The single most important source of municipal court authority and jurisdiction is the Texas Constitution which gives the state legislature the power to establish courts and their jurisdiction when it sees fit. The legislature exercised this power and first created municipal courts in the Corporation Court Law of 1899. This law has been codified in the Texas Government Code. Municipal courts also look to various other statutes and codes for authority and jurisdiction.

2018/2019 Holiday Trash & Recycling Schedule

THANKSGIVING SCHEDULE – Thursday, November 22, 201​​8:
Normal Thursday trash collection will shift to Friday, November 23rd
CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE – Tuesday, December 25, 2018:
Service normally provided on Monday will be on regular schedule, Wednesday will shift to Thursday and Thursday will shift to Friday
NEW YEARS SCHEDULE – Tuesday, January 1, 2019:
Service normally provided on Monday will be on regular schedule, Wednesday will shift to Thursday and Thursday will shift to Friday

​AUTHORIZED WASTE HAULER: REPUBLIC SERVICES     

All Customer Service Calls: 972-304-3555 or 817-332-7301

• If your trash, recycling or yard waste was set out for collection by 7 am and was not collected by the end of the day, contact Republic Services at 972-304-3555 or 817-332-7301 to report the missed pick-up.  
• A collection will be scheduled for no later than the next business day. 

TRASH SERVICE

• TRASH and BULK collection days are every Monday and Thursday.
• Trash should be placed in trash bags or trash cans with lids and placed at the end of your driveway prior to 7 am.
• Residential customers are allowed a maximum 10 bags of solid waste per service day. Each bag should not  weigh more than 40-pounds.
• Bulk waste is materials not easily contained in a trash bag such as, but not limited to, swing sets, furniture, oversized acceptable solid waste and brush too large to be cut and packaged per yard trimming guidelines.
• Bulk Waste is not to exceed 2 cubic yards per collection.
• Commercial trash will be serviced by dumpsters when the establishment generates more than 10 bags per week.​

• Fence panels must be cut in sections less than 4 ft long.  
• Individual panels must be cut in length less than 4 Ft long, bundled and tied with cotton or jute string.
• Bundles must weigh less than 40 pounds.
• Concrete is not accepted by the truck, but may be taken to the landfill free of charge.
• Fencing will be colleced on Monday and Thursday.​​
  

RECYCLING SERVICE

• Recycling collection day is every Wednesday.
• Place your Republic Services issued cart at the end of your driveway prior to 7:00 AM
• Commercial recycling may be serviced by any reputable recycling company.

Acceptable recyclables include:

• Plastics #1-7 and plastic bags.
• Paper - All paper, including magazines, cardboard, phonebooks, waxed milk and juice cartons. No wet paper or paper that has touched food.
• Aluminum and Other Metal - Cans, foil, aerosol cans, scrap metal weighing 50 pounds or less
• Glass - Any glass bottles or containers, with or without lids.  Excludes window glass, porcelain, china or ceramics.

YARD TRIMMINGS RECYCLING

• Yard trimmings are collected on Wednesdays.
• Place your yard trimmings in lawn and leaf bags (paper bags) or an open trash can. Do not put trash or recyclables in with your yard trimmings.
• Place at the end of your driveway by 7 am on Wednesdays.
• Bundle brush and tree trimmings in bundles less than 4 ft long and tie the bundles with cotton or jute string. 
• Bundles or containers must weigh less than 40 pounds.
• Unflocked Christmas trees will be picked up after decorations have been removed.

PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED for yard trimmings. Other materials not accepted include dirt, poisonous plants, rocks or concrete.

​Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Disposal

Coppell residents can contact Republic Services to set up an appointment to have their Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste collected.

• The household hazardous waste program (HHW) is available to Coppell Residents.​
  
• The HHW service is available to each household once each month.
• Call Republic Services before noon on any given Friday.
• HHW bags will be mailed to you along with proper instructions on how to package the material for collection on the next available Wednesday.
• Call 972-304-3555 or 817-332-7301 to schedule your HHW pick-up.​

How to dispose of materials that will not be collected at your door:

​LANDFILL USE BY CITIZENS

Coppell residents have access to Camelot Landfill, 580 Huffines Blvd., in Lewisville. Call Camelot at 972-492-3888 for hours of operation. Residents are allowed to dump one-ton of waste per month at the Camelot Landfill, free of charge. ​​Each Coppell household, who is a water customer, can gain access to Camelot Landfill by presenting upon arrival the most current paper copy of your water bill and photo identification with a matching address. eBilling customers will be required upon arrival to show a paper copy of the most current water bill and photo identification with a matching address. ​Customers who have signed up for eBilling, can access a copy of their bill by visiting coppelltx.gov​, clicking on the H2Online icon and printing the most current copy.  Click on the map above for directions to Camelot Landfill.

ROLL-OFF PERMITS

​Roll-off containers placed on residential property require a permit from the Environmental Health Department.  Although there is no charge for the permit, the permit allows a roll-off to be placed on residential property for 30 days.  Roll -off Permits may be obtained through the City of Coppell Environmental Health Division located at 265 E Parkway Blvd., Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.  Or you may complete the permit application and email it or fax to 972-462-5123, Attn: Environmental Health Dept.  Please call Republic Services at 972-304-3555 or 817-332-7301 to set up service for a Roll-off container.

Group Exercise classes, Virtual Exercise classes, free-weights, machine-weights, cardio machines, indoor track, and an outdoor circuit area are available for use by individuals 13 years and older. Users aged 13 - 15 must have a parent-signed waiver and complete an orientation.

GYMNASIUM

The gymnasium is available for drop-in basketball.  Organized practices are permitted by reservation only.  Basketballs may be checked out at the front desk.  The gym is also available for open volleyball and badminton play, during certain hours.

Indoor pools are open year-round.  The outdoor pool area is open during the summer season, from Memorial Day Weekend (May 27) to Labor Day (September 4), when school is out.

Camp Do-It-All is an award-winning day camp program designed for boys and girls ages 6-12 years old. Camp Do-It-All is offered during the major school breaks: Summer, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break. Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to accommodate working parents. Camp Do-It-All provides a variety of activities that stimulate creativity, entertainment, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Plus . . . it's fun! Participate in outdoor and indoor sports, swimming, roller skating, movies, board games, arts and crafts, and field trips to exciting destinations such as: Skate Town, the Fort Worth Zoo, museum tours, and more!​

KidzConnect is an award winning summer program that is designed to give children a place to learn and play! KidzConnect is known as a "Kidz University", meaning there are many classes to choose from, and kids set their own curriculum. Camp is staffed with highly trained individuals, most of whom work within local school districts. KidzConnect is offered for boys and girls ages 6-12 years.

MISSOULA CHILDREN'S THEATRE

Missoula Children's Theatre is a theatre camp located in Missoula, Montana that travels all over the world giving children the opportunity to act. Each summer in Coppell we host 2 weeks of Missoula for children ranging from 6-18 years of age (1st - 12th grade). Missoula is a huge hit within the community, and provides children with the opportunity to learn and grow in the theatre.

Adult Sports

Softball

The Adult Softball league is offered during the Summer. Co-ed and men’s recreational leagues are available. All games are played at the softball complex in the Andrew Brown Park Central, located at 364 N. Denton Tap Road. Games will be scheduled throughout the week depending on league type. The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) will govern all game rules. Teams will play 7 regular season games with the top four teams advancing to a single elimination tournament at the end of the season.

If you would like to participate in Adult Athletics but do not have a team, go to www.teamsideline.com/coppell​ and click on the Free-Agent Sign Up link and on the left-hand side.  This allows you to be placed on a list to be contacted by a captain or the coordinator.  There is no guarantee that free-agents will be placed on a team.

​​Mission

The Planning Division is responsible for land use development management through administration of the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations, implementation of the Thoroughfare Plan, Streetscape Plan, other physical development plans, ordinances, policies and procedures of the city.  The Planning Division:

• Guides the long-term growth of the community
• Monitors and updates the Coppell Comprehensive Master Plan as needed
• Provides research and demographic data to public​
• Updates and maintains Homeowner's Association Contacts, Subdivision Files and Zoning Files​ in the Laserfiche Repository.

The Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission​ is a recommending body to the​ City Council on planning issues, including zoning, platting, ordinance amendments and related planning matters. They are the Site Plan approval authority and have been granted the right to approve Final Plats in some instances​.​
